Susann Keohane is the Watson Health Innovation Leader for Healthy Aging and Longevity. She is an experienced technical leader and trusted advisor to executives, clients, and academia. In her technical career path, she has performed in roles as a software engineer, consultant, architect, and researcher. In 2011, she became the global technical lead for the accessibility enablement, responsible for the enterprise-wide strategy and implementation mechanism for accessibility tooling, education, consulting and compliance to emerging accessibility standards. In 2015, she initiated and successfully delivery the Aging Global Technical Outlook which examines in great depth the current trajectories of new technologies in the lab and marketplace. As the IBM Global Leader in Aging, Susann was instrumental in rallying the world-wide teams and establishing a strong partnership with an anchor client. She recently transitions from IBM Research to Watson Health with the aim of leveraging her AI/ML and IoT technical knowledge and experience in health research for the global aging population into go-to-market strategy. Susann has been an IBM Master Inventor since 2002 with over 195 Patents issued. She is an avid mentor of new inventors and an invited spokesperson for the USPTO in support of gender diversity in the patent system. She serves on the IBM Academy of Technology Council and is active in professional organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers and Women in Technology. Susann holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering, M.S. in Software Engineering and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Research in Gerontology (Aging & Longevity).
